Sitting and standing."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many people today are trying to solve their sedentary jobs with a standing desk. And that's great. But standing all day instead of sitting doesn't solve the problem.&nbsp;<strong>There is no ideal position in which we should stay for a long time.<\/strong>&nbsp;The body mainly needs&nbsp;<em>to change positions<\/em>&nbsp;and receive small impulses to move throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The body is very adaptive. It adapts to what we do most often.<br>And if we sit most of the day, the body adjusts accordingly: it stiffens, limits range, overuses certain muscles, and \u201cturns off\u201d others. This then leads to back pain, neck pain, or a feeling of fatigue, even when we\u2019ve actually just been sitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And maybe you're thinking:&nbsp;<em>\"I'll catch up with sports.\"<\/em><br>But a one-time hour at the gym or a jog after work&nbsp;<strong>won't replace<\/strong>&nbsp;eight hours of inactivity. Compensation doesn't work on the principle of \"what was missing, I'll make up for it.\" It works on the principle of&nbsp;<strong>regularity throughout the day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What helps in a normal working day<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Alternate sitting and standing&nbsp;<em>every 20-40 minutes<\/em>&nbsp;(briefly, not all at once).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consciously breathe into your ribs \u2013 your chest should be mobile.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get up and walk around when making phone calls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pay attention to your hips and chest \u2013 that\u2019s where we \u201cclose up\u201d most often.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not about performance. It\u2019s not about perfect posture.<br>It's about&nbsp;<strong>small, regular impulses<\/strong>, that keep your body functional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What to take from this<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The body remembers everything we repeat every day.<br>And the good news is that you only need to start small.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Do you sit all day?
