Pregnancy is a time of great change. The body gradually adapts to growing baby, posture changes, the center of gravity shifts forward and the lumbar spine, pelvis and lower limbs take on more weight. Back tension, a feeling of heavy legs, swelling or fatigue often occur even during normal daily activities.

Pregnancy massage helps the body to relax and create space for greater comfort throughout pregnancy. We focus on releasing muscle tension in the back, hips, pelvis and legs. We also support circulation and reduce swelling in the lower extremities.

We always adapt the massage to the woman's current needs and the stage of pregnancy. It is most often performed in a side position or in another position that is comfortable and safe at the time. The techniques used are gentle, sensitive and respect the changes that the woman's body is going through.

Breathwork is also part of the treatment. Calm and conscious breathing helps to release tension, support proper pelvic floor function, and bring a greater sense of peace and security. At the beginning and end of the treatment, there is space to slow down, relax, and become aware of your own body.

Pregnancy massage is not just about physical relief. For many women, it is also a moment of pause, regeneration, and gentle connection to themselves and their baby.

After a massage, women often describe a feeling of lightness, relaxation, and a pleasant feeling of feeling good in their bodies again.

When is pregnancy massage not recommended

We usually do not perform pregnancy massage:

in high-risk pregnancies

in bleeding, severe pain or premature contractions

in significant swelling without consulting a doctor

in fever, infectious disease or severe nausea

Every child has their own innate and unique pace of psychomotor development. However, sometimes they may need gentle guidance in the right direction. This is when pediatric physiotherapy has an important place.

Our goal is to support the natural development of the child, develop their motor skills and motivation to move. We help children discover the joy of movement without pain and limitations.

What are the benefits of pediatric physiotherapy

Pediatric physiotherapy is not just about exercise. It is a comprehensive approach that combines professional knowledge, sensitive guidance and natural playfulness.

We observe how the child moves, how he reacts to stimuli and how he perceives his body. Based on this information, we choose appropriate therapeutic procedures that support the development of motor sills, coordination and balance.

Therapy takes place in a safe and friendly atmosphere. We respect the child's individual pace, mood and current needs. An environment of trust is key to real progress.

When can pediatric physiotherapy help

Physiotherapy can be beneficial from birth. We help children with, for example:

delayed psychomotor development

asymmetries or deviations in head position

poor posture, scoliosis or flat feet

difficulties with walking, coordination or balance

conditions after injuries, operations or neurological diseases

increased or decreased muscle tension

Physiotherapy is also of preventive importance - it helps children acquire healthy movement habits that are the basis for their entire lives.

What therapeutic approaches do we use

In therapy, we work with modern and proven methods:

Vojta reflex locomotion - activation of natural movement patterns

Bobath concept (NDT) - support of optimal movement development through play and touch

DNS according to Prof. Kolář - development of correct body stabilization

Sensomotor exercises - improvement of coordination, balance and body perception

Every child is unique, so we always create an individual therapy plan that matches their age and needs.

Cooperation with parents is key

Active parental involvement is part of the therapy. We show how to support the child at home, how to exercise with them and how to naturally incorporate movement into their daily lives. A well-informed parent is an important part of successful therapy.

Our goal is healthy movement and the joy of it.

The greatest reward for us is watching children's progress - the first turn, a more confident sitting position, the first steps or returning to movement after an injury. Children's physiotherapy is not only about expertise, but also about empathy, patience and joy from every small shift.

At SPINEZIO physiotherapy, we emphasize a sensitive approach, a safe environment and respect for the individual needs of each child and the entire family.

Supporting the psychomotor development of newborns and infants

The first months of life are a period of incredible development in all respects. The baby explores the world, perceives and reacts to its surroundings, and gradually learns to hold its body in space.

Every child has their own pace, yet there are situations when it may be appropriate to sensitively support development.

Physiotherapy for babies is not just about solving problems. It is primarily about prevention, educating parents, and creating safe conditions for healthy psychomotor development.

When is it appropriate to bring your baby to physiotherapy?

Examination is possible from birth.

We recommend it especially if:

the baby prefers one side

there is an asymmetry in posture of movement

the baby is restless, cries a lot or has difficulty calming down

the parents are not confident in handling or positioning

the baby was born prematurely or after difficult birth

you want to support development preventively

Early consultation can prevent later difficulties.

What is included in baby physiotherapy

Psychomotor development examination

The physiotherapist monitors spontaneous movement, muscle tension, responses to stimuli and developmental milestones. The aim is to assess whether development is moving in physiological direction.

Parent education

A large part of the consists of working with parents. We show the correct handling, carrying and positioning of the baby in common daily situations.

Handling and everyday care

Proper handling helps the baby to better perceive its body and supports natural motor development.

Reflex therapy and proper motivation

In some cases, we use reflective methods (e.g. Vojta's method, elements of the Bobath concept, etc.). We always choose the procedure sensitively and with respect for the child and parents. The goal is not stress, but functional support of development.

Physiotherapy as prevention

Infant physiotherapy is not just a solution to problems.

It is also a way to:

support proper motor development

prevent asymmetries and overload

Increase parental confidence in caring for a child

create healthy motor habits from the beginning of life

Individual and sensitive approach

Every baby is unique. That is why we always choose therapy individually and with respect for the needs of the whole family. At SPINEZIO, we offer professional examinations and follow-up care focused on the healthy development of the child and support for parents.

The goal is not to "teach your baby to exercise", but to help them grow naturally and discover the world of healthy movement.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. A condition that affects the lives of many women, yet is still not well understood. Pain, fatigue, digestive problems, and fertility can be all part of this complex condition.

Physiotherapy can be an important part of supportive care, helping to relieve discomfort and improve quality of life.

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a chronic disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus is found outside the uterus. Most often in the pelvic area, but it can also appear elsewhere in the body.

This tissue responds to hormonal changes during the cycle, just like the uterus, causing inflammation, pain, and the gradual formation of adhesions. These can be the source of long-term problems.

How endometriosis presents

The typical symptom is pain

Most common:

Severe menstrual pain

Pain during sex

Chronic pelvic pain

Difficulty with digestion or bowel movements

Fatigue

Endometriosis can be associated with difficulty getting pregnant, but this is not the case for all woman.

How physiotherapy can help

Physiotherapy is not a cure for the disease itself, but it can significantly help alleviate its symptoms.

Pelvic floor care

Women with endometriosis often have increased tension in the pelvic floor muscles.

Targeted treatment helps:

Release painful points

Reduce pain during menstruation and sex

Improve body awareness

Visceral therapy

Gentle manual techniques can help improve the mobility of organs in the abdominal cavity and reduce tension in the connective structures.

This can lead to pain relief, improved digestion and overall comfort.

Holistic approach to the body

The therapy also includes work with posture, breathing and tension in the lumbar, hip and rib areas.

The goal is to reduce overload in the body and support its natural balance.

Endometriosis and quality of life

Endometriosis is a complex disease that affects not only the body, but also the psyche of a woman.

Collaboration between multiple experts in gynecology, physiotherapy, or other supportive approches is important.

The goal of physiotherapy is to help woman:

Understand their bodies better

Relieve pain

Improve daily functioning

Because even small changes can have a big impact on the quality of life.

Individual and sensitive approach

Every woman experiences endometriosis differently. That is why it is important to choose an individual approach and cooperate within the framework of comprehensive care.

At SPINEZIO physiotherapy, we offer professional examinations and therapy focused on pelvic floor problems and chronic pain.

The goal is not only to alleviate symptoms, but to support the overall function of the body and quality of life.

Examinations vaginal and rectal are among the specific techniques that we use in physiotherapy for the diagnosis and therapy of pelvic floor muscles.

This is an internal examination, thanks to which the physiotherapist can very accurately assess the condition of the muscles, their tension, sensitivity and ability to engage correctly.

Unlike visual, palpation, or ultrasound examinations, these techniques allow us to have a direct contact with pelvic floor muscles, and thus more targeted therapy.

What is the difference between a vaginal and rectal examination?

Both techniques differ primarily in the area they treat.

Vaginal examination

It is performed through the vaginal opening and focuses primarily on the front part of the pelvic floor.

We use it for example for:

painful sexual intercourse

lower abdominal pain

painful menstruation

endometriosis

difficulties with getting pregnant

difficulties after vaginal birth (e.g. after a cut or injury to the perineum)

Rectal examination

The examination is performed through the rectum and focuses more on the back and sides of the pelvic floor and the coccyx area..

We often use it for:

coccyx pain

sacral and SI joint pain

long-term back pain

certain types of painful menstruation

difficulties with getting pregnant

This technique is also part of Ludmila Mojžíšová'smethodology, which is used in the treatment of functional sterility.

How the examination is carried out

The examination itself is always carried out sensitively and with an emphasis on the patient's comfort. The physiotherapist works in gloves and uses lubricating gel. The examination is carried out with one or two fingers.

During treatment, we monitor, for example:

the tension of the pelvic floor muscles

the sensitivity of individual structures

the ability to activate and relax the muscles

the reaction of the tissues to pressure

The examination may also include therapeutic treatment, during which the physiotherapist relaxes overworked or painful muscles.

The patient can ask for a break at any any time and we communicate with each other the entire time.

What positions do we use during the examination

The position varies depending on the type of examination.

Vaginal examination

The examination is most often performed lying on the back.

For greater comfort, the patient is always given a disposable skirt.

Rectal examination

The examination is usually performed in the position of all fours on the forearms.

For greater comfort, the patient is always covered with rebozo scarf of blanket.

Is examination painful?

For some patients, the examination may be sensitive, especially if the pelvic floor muscles are tense or have been overloaded for a long time.

However, the physiotherapist always works very gently and adapts the intensity of the pressure to the current tissue reaction.

Slight discomfort during the treatment is possible, but it should not be significantly painful.

What to do after examination

After the treatment, we recommend:

take it easy that day

get more rest

drink enough

avoid strenuous physical activity (such as going to the gym or running)

The pelvic floor is an area that is not talked about much. Yet it can significantly affect the quality of life. When it is not working properly, the body will sooner or later show it, through pain, pressure, urine leakage or difficulties in intimate life.

Why is a pelvic floor examination performed at all?

It helps us to accurately assess:

Whether the pelvic floor muscles are weakened (hypotonic)

Or, on the contrary, excessively tense (hypertonic)

What is their strenght

Contraction endurance

Ability to relax

Sensitivity and soreness of individual structures

In women, we often find that the pelvic floor muscles are not only weakened, but also overloaded and under increased tension. In both cases, however, they do not function optimally.

How problems can manifest themselves.

With increased tension (hypertonia):

Pain in the pelvic area, lower abdomen or hips

Painful menstruation

Pain during intercourse

Difficulty with defecation

Sometimes incontinence

When weakened (hypotonie):

Incontinence

Pelvic organ prolapse

Postpartum difficulties

Very often we encounter a combination of both conditions.

When is it appropriate to undergo an examination?

We recommend an examination, for example, in the case of:

Painful menstruation

Painful sexual intercourse

Incontinence

Pelvic organ prolapse

Coccyx pain

Conditions after childbirth

Postoperative conditions

Inability to get pregnant (functional sterility)

Vaginismus

What are the methods of examining the pelvic floor?

aspect (visual examination) - we observe the overall posture, position of the pelvis, curvature of the spine, skin folds, possible swelling in the pelvic area

palpation (examination by touch) – we palpate tension in the pelvic and hip area, sensitivity around the pubic symphysis or coccyx, tension of the abdominal muscles and muscles of the lower extremities

joint mobility examination - we examine the mobility of the joints, mainly in the pelvic area (SI joints, hip joints, but also the overall mobility of the spine)

ultrasound examination (UZ) - we observe the movement of the pelvic floor muscles through the abdominal wall

per rectum / per vaginam examination – specific internal examinations of the pelvis

The pelvic floor can also affect distant areas of the body. For example, significant tension in the pelvic floor muscles can, in addition to pain during sex or pain in the coccyx area, also manifest as pain in the lumbar or thoracic spine, or even as neck or headache. The body is connected through muscle chains, and therefore problems can chain each other and travel far from the place of the real cause.

The pelvic floor plays a major role in women even before a planned conception. Ludmila Mojžíšová has already found that in certain cases, significant tension in the pelvic area can cause functional sterility (infertility). Furthermore during pregnancy, when the pelvic floor muscles are put under great strain in terms of pressure and stretching. And of course, in post partum period, when the body is slowly put back together.

Our practice confirms how important it is to take care of this area for women who are going through periods of change, not only physical but also psychological. And if our body works as we wish, everything is easier to tolerate.

At SPINEZIO physiotherapy we work with maximum respect, explaining every step and emphasizing your comfort.

The short answer is:

Not quite.

There is no single "correct" position in which we should sit all day. What is important is a well-adjusted workplace and enough movement during the day, which helps prevent back pain and other problems associated with sitting.

Why the body doesn't like sitting for long periods of time

The human body is not designed to stay in one position for long, even when we sit “pretty straight.” The problem is not just how we sit, but mainly how long we stay in the same position.

Muscles are happiest when they are regularly engaged and change length. However, when sitting for long periods of time, they remain in one position, which leads to overload, especially in the spine and intervertebral discs. This can be one of the causes of musculoskeletal pain.

That's why physical therapists often say, "The best position is the next one."

How to set up your workplace ergonomically

It's not a perfect position, but a setting that:

supports the natural curvature of the spine

minimizes unnecessary muscle tension

allows frequent changes of position

Chair

feet resting on the ground

knees roughly at hip level (slightly lower)

hip support – backrest or small cushion

possibility to lean back slightly (an angle of approx. 100-110° is gentler on the spine than a strict right angle)

Monitor

top of screen at eye level or slightly below

approximately arm's length

monitor directly in front of you – without turning your head

Keyboard and mouse

as close to body as possible

elbows at the body at a right or slightly open angle

wrist in a neutral position (an ergonomic mouse or gel pad can help)

shoulders remain relaxed, not pulled towards the ears

How to help yourself at home

Don't have a lumbar support? A rolled-up towel or overball can easily replace it

Can't reach the floor with your feet? A box, book, or small step will help

Does your laptop sit low? Just put a few books under it

The most important thing: MOVEMENT

Even perfect ergonomics do not change the fact that sitting is a passive position.

That's why it's key to:

change your position every 30-40 minutes

take a short walk, stretch or stand

alternate between sitting, standing, leaning and leaning forward slightly

Summary

There is no single correct sitting position. There is a well-adjusted workplace and enough movement during the day. And this is much more important for our body than trying to sit "perfectly".

The first visit to a physiotherapist often raises many questions and uncertainties. That is why we want to show you how everything works with us. At SPINEZIO physiotherapy we consider the first meeting as the basis for cooperation, which can be built on in the long term, and we always try to adapt the therapy to the individual needs of the client.

For most of us, it is important to feel comfortable and welcome. Especially if we are in a healthcare facility. Friendly receptionists help people feel good and relaxed. They explain everything that is needed so that our clients can calmly find their way, sit down, have a delicious coffee or tea and possibly get answers to their questions.

During the physiotherapy consultation itself, it is first essential to understand not only the pain, but also how the human body works. That is why we first focus on your health and exercise history in order to be able to better set up a treatment plan. We are interested in when the difficulties arose, what aggravates or relieves them, what your exercise regimen, workload or sports activities are. Sleep, stress and overall lifestyle also play an important role. The goal is not to “find a diagnosis at all costs”, but to understand the context in which the difficulties arise.

This is followed by an examination of the musculoskeletal system. In this case, it is ideal if we can examine you in your underwear, but there is no problem performing the examination, for example, in sportswear (shorts, leggings, sports underwear). We monitor basic movement patterns, posture, stability, coordination and quality of movement. As part of the examination, we use, for example, diagnostic ultrasound or podoscope as needed. It often turns out that the area that hurts is not the real source of the problem, but rather its consequence. That is why we look at the body as a whole and look for connections between individual segments.

The first visit usually includes the treatment itself, which includes soft tissue techniques or mobilization and a selection of targeted exercises. We choose procedures that match the client's current capabilities and respect pain and any limitations.

At the end of the first visit, the client leaves with a clear idea of:

where the difficulties probably come from

what the proposed therapeutic procedure is

what he can actively influence himself

The first visit is not a one-time solution, but a starting point. It serves to set the direction, safe workload and realistic expectations. The pace and distribution of therapy is always adapted to the specific person - their goals, possibilities and current condition.

You can bring with you the results of previous examinations or medical reports and comfortable underwear or sportswear that you feel good in. Towels, sheets and equipment are provided for you and there is no need to bring anything else.

Článek Jak probíhá první návštěva ve SPINEZIO fyzioterapie se nejdříve objevil na spinezio.cz.

The female body undergoes many changes during pregnancy, which, among other things, also fundamentally affect the musculoskeletal system. These changes, although physiological, can cause various painful conditions, such as pain in the lumbar spine and SI joints, pain in the pubic symphysis, feet, knees or hips, and can also cause breathing difficulties or digestive problems. Likewise, the postpartum period has its own specifics, when new mothers encounter, for example, postpartum diastasis, incontinence or various pains in the pelvic area.

During both of these periods, we are able to prevent or resolve many pains through targeted and sensitive physiotherapy care, proper physical activity, and dietary measures, helping expectant mothers to experience these periods as calmly and pain-free as possible.

The topic of health insurance companies and physiotherapy often raises questions. What services are covered by public health insurance, when does the client pay for the care themselves, and is it possible to use any of the preventive contributions?

In this article, we clearly explain how it works and what to focus on.

Does SPINEZIO physiotherapy cooperate with health insurance companies?

SPINEZIO physiotherapy is not a contracted workplace of health insurance companies. Our services are paid for by clients themselves and a doctor's recommendation is not necessary for the provision of care with us.

However, this does not mean that clients cannot use any form of support from their health insurance company.

What can insurance companies contribute to as part of prevention?

As part of preventive programs, health insurance companies can contribute to, for example:

physical and sports activities

health or rehabilitation exercises

prevention of musculoskeletal disorders

promotion of a healthy lifestyle

Specific options, contribution amounts, and application methods vary depending on the insurance company and the programs currently offered.

How can clients proceed?

If a client receives services at SPINEZIO physiotherapy, it is possible to:

have an invoice issued for the services provided

check with your health insurance company whether the invoice can be used as part of preventive contributions

submit an application via your insurance company's website or application

Approval of the contribution is always the responsibility of the specific health insurance company.

What is good to think about?

each insurance company has different conditions

preventive programs may change over time

the contribution is not an automatic entitlement

it is always advisable to check the current information directly with your insurance company

Summary

SPINEZIO physiotherapy is not a contracted workplace of health insurance companies

but some insurance companies offer contributions for prevention, exercise and a healthy lifestyle
